On a bright Saturday morning, the lakefront buzzed with activity as volunteers of all ages gathered for the Annual Shoreline Cleanup. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and a shared commitment to the lake, neighbors spread out along the water's edge to collect debris, clear invasive growth, and plant native grasses along the shoreline.
"This is one of my favorite events of the year," said Sarah Mitchell, chair of the Lake Committee. "It's a chance to care for the place we love, and to catch up with neighbors while doing it."
By midday, volunteers had filled more than forty bags of debris and planted several hundred native seedlings along a quarter-mile stretch of shore. The work helps prevent erosion, filter runoff, and preserve habitat for fish, turtles, and birds that call the lake home.
The association thanks everyone who participated, and invites residents to join the next monthly trail maintenance day in September.
